Trishna is Mumbai's landmark sea food restaurant. International tourists almost inevitably drop by, given its pride of place in popular travel guide lists of "must-dos", when in the city. Being located at Kala Ghoda certainly helps. It is the heart of the tourist area with proximity to prominent landmarks like the Gateway of India. It serves a variety of sea food prepared in Manglorean style. Think butter garlic prawns, squids, lobsters and pomfret, rawas and surmai served with a traditional accompaniments like neer dosa. Trishna was among the initial few restaurants that taught Mumbai to eat crabs while wearing an apron. In times of "think global, eat local", a visit to this place to sample local seafood delicacies is a must.
The Best:
Perthtravellor from Vatican City posts this on TripAdvisor, "This excellent seafood restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff and it did not disappoint. Located in an interesting quarter of downtown Mumbai, surrounded by boutiques and bookstores, it’s easy to access, just a couple of minutes walk from the museum."
The Worst:
Tanvi Trivedi posts on Zomato, "...It's an age old place but the service is not that great "
The funny:
Eesheeta posts on Zomato, "...my favourite is the butter garlic crabs. But off late because of health reasons and weight consciousness we tend to stay away from it." Manish Joshi on the same app says, "You cannot avoid licking your fingers till the waiter comes to take away the plate."
The not so funny:
Markff2017 says on TripAdvisor, "What is disappointing is my expectations for this restaurant were very high. Unfortunately, the staff is very arrogant and they hover over your table. They charge for things that should automatically be included into the meal .... Like a raitha"
