We lost our Grandmother on 14th November, 2019. It was a very personal loss which happened all of a sudden. It's been more than 10 months already and I'm still unable to fulfill the vaccum that my Grandma left when she passed away. Today on her 67th Birthday ( I won't call it Birth Anniversary as it's too hard for me to say that) I thought of penning down her qualities that I've adored the most.
1. My Grandma got married at the age of 16 and had her first child just when she was 17 - since then she was fully occupied with her family duties. The bond she created with my grandfather was of love, warmth, affection, trust and respect. Their relationship was a live example for all of us of what true unconditional love means.Family was always her priority and she gave 100% to fulfill all her responsibilities
2. My grandmother was the coolest person I've ever seen in my life- here I'm referring 'coolest' in terms of anger. She hardly argued with anyone. I've seen her expressing her disappointments in a very polite manner and I always wondered how can a person be so calm and so polite?
3. My grandmother loved all her grandchildren equally- though some of my cousin and their parents may not agree with my statement as they feel that she was a bit overprotective towards me but the truth is that she loved and cared all her 6 grandchildren eternally and equally!
4. My grandmother was an extrovert-she loved making new friends and talking to people of all ages. The bestest quality of hers was she never discriminated among people based on their religion, caste, gender, financial status or their age! If you're unwell and if she comes to know it she would be the first to visit you, assure you that you're going to be perfectly fine and fill you with her positivity!
5. She loved fashion-My grandmother had a great fashion sense. 70% (or maybe more) of my closet includes clothes and accessories which are all gifted by her. She was my shopping partner-I hardly preferred going on shopping with my friends or any other family member!
6. She loved sports and was a Yoga enthusiast-My grandmother loved doing Yoga and also she loved watching and playing outdoor games like Badminton. Her sporting spirit while playing any game was commendable. She and my grandfather used to play Carrom daily after having lunch and to watch their game was a treat to our eyes!
7. She was the most open minded person-Be it fashion, choosing career, choosing life partner-she has always given freedom to all her kids, grandkids and also to her both daughter in law!
The word 'grandma' has become sesquipedalian for me,since it has accumulated all the wonderful memories of fun & love! She was an immense source of inspiration for all of us, and the way she used to do things reflected her perspicacity & she also showed us how to derive huge amounts of happiness from little things!
